Anthony Brito and Kolten Grieve scored power-play goals 25 seconds apart, early in the third period, to give the Ice Hawks a two goal lead and then held on for a 5-4 victory in game five of the Shaw Conference Finals. The penalty in question was Richmond's only time shorthanded tonight, but it was a turning point in the game, as Bret Higham was assessed a major penalty for a hit from behind. The Sockeyes went 0 for 4 on the power-play themselves, and were scored against shorthanded as special teams were a big factor in tonight's result. Brito's marker was his second of the game and the 6'4 forward was dangerous in front of the Sockeyes goal throughout the game. The Sockeyes out-shot the Ice Hawks by a margin of 38-33 and appeared to get the better of the scoring chances, but Alex Ahnert was solid again in goal for Delta. It was yet another great game in what has been a highly entertaining series. The teams will face-off again on Saturday night for game six with the Sockeyes holding a 3-2 advantage. Game time is 7:30 at the Ladner Leisure Centre.
