eight teams in action on saturday night

It's a busy, busy night in the 'Pac' with four games on the schedule. First, the highlighted game on the schedule sees Grandview visiting North Vancouver, in a game that has serious playoff implications. The fact is that one very good team is going to miss the playoffs in the Tom Shaw Conference this year, and with North Delta jumping up the standings, it looks like it's down to the Steelers and Wolf Pack to fight it out for the final spot. Grandview trails North Van, in the standings, by two points, and the Wolf Pack have two games in hand. Tonight is a very important 'four pointer' for the Steelers, who have only eight games left to close ground.

In North Delta, the Devils will try to solidify their playoff position, and pull away from Grandview and North Van, when they host the Ridge Meadows Flames at Sungod Arena. The Devils have recently pulled a little bit ahead in that three way race. A upset victory over Richmond certainly helped their cause. The Flames are playing their second game in 24 hours and are looking to rebound after a tough loss in Abbotsford last evening.

The Abbotsford Pilots will be looking to build on yesterday's big victory, as they travel to Port Moody to face the struggling Panthers. Port Moody has been playing a very young roster as they build for next season, but have been working hard. The Pilots have won four straight games, and have a nice lead atop the Harold Brittain Conference, but are keeping a close eye on second placed Aldergrove (9-1-0 in their last ten), who are trying to chase them down.

The Richmond Sockeyes will be looking to rebound from rare loss at home, on Thursday night. The Sockeyes are just two points ahead of the Delta Ice Hawks in the race for first place in the Shaw Conference. It's an important two points for Richmond, which might be bad news for the Mission City Outlaws, who are hosting the Sockeyes tonight. Mission City has been playing better since a coaching change that seems to have sparked the team.

Lots of great, live and local, junior hockey action to choose from this evening.
