The big battle for first over-all didn't live up to expectations, as the Abbotsford Pilots blasted the Delta Ice Hawks 8-1 tonight at MSA. The win puts Abby one point ahead of Richmond in the over-all standings, and eleven points up on Aldergrove in the Brittain Conference race. The game featured a third period line-brawl. Meanwhile, in Maple Ridge, the Flames and Grandview Steelers played a wildly entertaining game. After scoring the opening goal, which resulted in a lot of teddy-bears on the ice, the Flames gave up four quick goals and trailed 4-1 midway through the first. They then reeled off five straight of their own and led the Steelers 6-4 after 40 minutes. Grandview pulled to within one with 3:48 remaining, but could not get the equalizer, and dropped a 6-5 decision.
